For Simone Biles’ last event at the 2024 Paris Olympics this morning, her husband, Jonathan Owens, was missing from the stands. When the gymnast earned a silver medal for the floor exercise final, Owens showed his support from afar—with good reason. Turns out, the Chicago Bears safety is currently at training camp, which is mandatory for all NFL players. He even got special permission to take time off to be with Biles in Paris.
Biles revealed to USA Today before the Olympics that “the Bears are actually granting him a couple days off from training camp, so he’ll be there, yes. For just a short little time.”
“Anytime we can show up for one another in support, we just get super excited because our schedules don’t align that much,” she continued. “So whenever it does, it’s really important for the both of us to show up in support.”
Owens posted about Biles this morning on his Instagram Story, having watched her compete from home:

At this point, all the gymnastics events have finished at the Olympics. The Games will go on until August 11, the date of the closing ceremony. Biles shared a little about life in the Olympic Village on TikTok a couple of days ago. She posted a “get ready with me” video and discussed everything from her anxiety at the games to her top competitor, Brazil’s Rebeca Andrade. Andrade beat Biles in the floor competition today.
Biles praised Andrade on the platform, saying, “Let me just tell ya, Rebeca’s good, bro, like she’s good. And I would say she’s my top competitor. We [have] very similar scores overall, and I haven’t had competition like this in a while. But I am super excited to be competing and rotating with her. She’s super sweet, and she’s overcome a couple injuries so to see her back out here and amazing, I’m excited. It’ll be a good one.”
